Throughout my time in the New Literacies and Global Learning program at NC State, I have become a stronger and more knowledgeable teacher of literacy. I have incorporated more technology into daily lessons using the TPACK (Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge) framework and explored multimodal ways to incorporate literacy into content areas.  My students have enjoyed using Flipgrid for story responses and iPads for recording and sharing book talks. My classroom is filled with Kindergarteners having rich discussions about books and using books as inspiration for writing and research.

I proudly call myself a teacher leader who works hard to build strong, collaborative relationships with my colleagues, students, and school community.  To continue to improve student achievement, I will participate in action research projects to support reflection and positive change in my own teaching.  I feel the urgency behind connecting my students with high-quality literature to motivate and inspire them to be change-makers.
